James Phillips, Citrus Connection

Growing up as an Army “Brat” and having served in the United States Army has afforded James with a love of public service to whatever community he is involved in. When his time in the service was ending, and being a graduate from Florida Southern College, it just made sense to go back to the closest place he has called home.

His commitment to public service was then transferred to the Citrus Connection where he supported a variety of projects to include the Mayor’s Homeless Committee and the reworking of the Lakeland transit system with Reroute 2020. His role to help facilitate transit to his community, and to the rest of Polk County, by leveraging talents and skills learned in the Army are rewarding to say the least.

James is married to Katrina Phillips, a singer with the Tampa Opera. They live with their pets in beautiful downtown Lakeland. James’s other passions include cooking and board games with friends.
